A Career Coach You Can Feel Good Referring To
Hi, I'm Phoebe Gavin.
You’ve probably had clients whose mental health challenges are rooted in workplace issues: burnout, toxic bosses, stalled-out job searches, or careers that no longer fit.
You’ve done meaningful, powerful work together. But sometimes, things can't truly shift until the job does. That’s where I come in.
I’m a career and leadership coach who helps clients with career changes, professional advancement, and workplace conflict.
I partner with therapists like you to help clients apply the insights they develop in the therapeutic process to their lived career challenges in a strategically sound way that achieves their career goals and resolves their professional stressors.
I do this with five years of coaching experience, 15 years in media, tech, and nonprofits, and a deep understanding of what it’s like to navigate work as a marginalized person. My approach is emotionally intelligent, identity-aware, and rooted in the real-world challenges your clients are facing.

How I Help
I coach professionals — especially women, people of color, and neurodivergent folks — through challenges like:
- Job searches after burnout, layoff, or demoralizing exits
- Navigating dysfunction, inequity, and conflict at work
- Career pivots after dissatisfaction or loss of purpose
- Having hard conversations or setting boundaries at work
- Building professional confidence, presentation, or relationships
- Improving work performance, time management, or communication
- Achieving career alignment by applying personal insights from therapy
Why Clients (and Therapists) Trust Me
-
Real-World Experience, Not Just Theory
I spent 15 years in media, tech, and nonprofit spaces, rising from entry-level to executive roles. I’ve been a hiring manager, a recruiter trainer, and a budget holder. I understand how career decisions actually get made because I’ve been the one making them. -
Focused on Doing, Not Just Thinking
Self-awareness is essential, but change comes from action. My coaching helps clients translate what they’ve uncovered in therapy into results: new jobs, firmer boundaries, better communication, and more authentic leadership. -
Identity-Aware and System-Savvy
As a Black queer woman with ADHD, I understand the unique challenges that women, people of color, and neurodivergent people face under capitalism and other systems of oppression. I actively factor those realities into client strategies. -
Experienced Across Industries and Career Stages
I’ve coached over 1,000 clients across dozens of fields, from journalism to law to academia to tech. Whether someone is job hunting, leading a team, or navigating burnout, I know how to meet them where they are. -
Respectful of Clinical Boundaries
I’m not a therapist, and I don’t try to be. I know when something belongs in a clinical space, and I refer clients back to therapy when that’s the more appropriate container for their growth.

How We Work Together
Referring a client is simple.
If you think a client might benefit from career coaching, you can share my email or website directly. From there, they can explore, book a Starter Session, or just reach out to me directly with questions.
If you’d like to give me context about their goals or challenges, I welcome it. If you or the client would like more active collaboration, I am happy to participate. But it’s never required.
Most clients are already doing thoughtful work with you, and come in with clear insight about what career challenges they’re ready to tackle.
