Here’s why:

September is when hiring energy starts to ramp up, thanks to some annual patterns I’ll explain in a sec.
You have plenty of time to get your materials and strategy in shape before September.
If you wait until the fall hiring wave is already in motion, you’ll miss opportunities or have to rush to apply.

So what happens in September?

Budget planning: Leaders start working on next year’s budgets. Approved roles often get posted in Q4, hoping for a Jan 1 start.
Year-end urgency: Some companies don't have the luxury of waiting and need help right away to close out the year strong.
Less competition: Because so many candidates assume hiring stops in Q4 because of the holidays, the applicant pool gets smaller.

Yes, the holidays can slow down the hiring process (just like summer vacations do), but if roles are open, roles are open. So yes, it’s August 12 and I’m talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Because I want you to get ready now and take advantage of this annual hiring pattern.

And yes, this year’s market is softer than usual, and the nonsense coming out of the White House isn’t helping. So the effect might be more muted than in previous years. But the underlying budget cycle isn't changing. So these two weeks matter!

Revisit your networking strategy
